Lionel 1563w Wabash Diesel Set, 2240 F3 Units Picture(s) and Description:
Up for auction is a Lionel 1563W Wabash Set from 1956. Everything is original postwar and is correct for this set. The set is graded as very strong C8 with some pieces at C9. I am a TCA member and grade accordingly. This set is from my collection and I look for the best trains and boxes to match. The boxes for this set are second to none.
The 2240 engine is in excellent shape. The nose decal is 100%. There are no cracks, chips, or rust. The battery compartment is corrosion free. No roof rubs on this one, hard to find a better unit. Very little run time. The 2240 box is in excellent shape with all flaps. One end is still sealed. No writing, creases, or tears.
The 2240 B Unit is also in excellent shape. No roof rubs, cracks, chips, or rust. The 2240C box is in excellent shape with all flaps. The original insert is included and is in excellent shape. This box is the best I have seen. No writing, creases, or tears.
The A and B units are the cleanest you can find. The lettering is strong and clear and white is bright. The boxes are in unbelievable shape.
The 6414 Automobile car is also in great shape. All the cars are original and bumpers are in excellent shape. Very little run time. No creaks, chips, or rust. The box is a brick with no writing or tears. All flaps are there. There is a crease across on end flap, but I am being very picky.
The 3620 Rotating Searchlight car is in like new condition with little if any run time. The box is solid with no creases, tears, or writing. All flaps are there. The rare insert is included and in excellent shape.
The 3562-50 Operating Barrel car is in great shape. The man is original. There are no chips, creaks, or rust. Six 362-78 barrels are included with the box. A No. 90 control switch is included and No. 160 unloading bin. The 3562-73 packet is included with all contents; (2) 3562-51 track spacers, (1) OTC track contactor, (2) 24 connecting wires, (1) 3562-48 platform extension. The box is a brick with all flaps. There are no creases, writing, or tears. The hard to find insert is also included.
The 6467 Miscellaneous car is in excellent shape with no run time. The box is a brick with no writing, creases, or tears. All flaps are there.
The 6357 Caboose is in excellent shape. There are no cracks, chips, or rust. The box is a brick with no writing, creases, or tears. All flaps are there. This is a hard box to find in this condition and dated +56.
The set box is numbered 1563W and is a brick. All flaps with no writing, creases, or tears. There is a couple of white spots on one end the size of a BB, which is the only thing keeping this box from being a 10. It would be hard find a better box, they just dont exist.
All boxes are +56, which do not have numbers on the sides; the 6019 box does have the numbers. The rivets on the couplers are silver except for the 3562 car.
A 1033 Transformer is include and works fine. The box is included and has all flaps. There is no writing, creases, or tears. The 6019 Remote Control Track Set is included and looks to be new. The box and instructions are included. The box has all flaps with no writing, creases, or tears.
Instruction sheets; 2243 8-56, 3562 2-56, 3620 14-4-55, and 1033-68 4-54 are included. The How to Operate Lionel Trains and Accessories 1956-57 and The New Lionel Accessories booklets are included. Six billboards in excellent shape and all together are also included.
This is a great original set and is as close to brand new as it gets. Track is not included, I dont want track anywhere near these boxes. Feel free to ask questions or ask for additional pictures of a particular piece.
Winning bidder will be contacted at the end of the auction with shipping and insurance info. Shipping will be $30.00 and insurance will be included in the lower 48. Shipping elsewhere will be the actual amount, I dont add any fees. Payment is due within ten days from the end of the auction. If you cannot pay within ten days do not bid. I prefer PayPal. The item is being SOLD AS IS. Email any questions. Thanks for looking!
