Here we have a beautiful post war Lionel 2354/2354T Double A units diesel engine set in lighting stripe nyc livery. Offered form 1953-55. This is the improved version of the earlier 2344 set. This version having twin horizontal motors driving 2 magnetraction equipped trucks, 3 position e unit and working headlight. The dummy a unit houses an operating diesel horn and working headlight. There is a working coupler on the front of each unit. These units are in excellent condition, crisp lettering and paint, no breaks or missing parts. No battery damage at all. The nose decal is better on the dummy then the powered and there is a small smudge on the rear of the dummies roof, might be able to be cleaned off but this will be left to the new owner. Besides these 2 small flaws the units are excellent. Both comes in original boxes, cardboard brick for powered unit is very good, orange box for dummy has tape on end flaps. On the test track the engine performed flawlessly, ran strong in forward and reverse and cycled through direction without a hitch, magnetraction proved strong and headlight glows bright. I was pleasantly suprised with how smooth and quiet she ran. Together this engine set is overall exceptionally nice and rated at a c7! I have the matching 2344c b unit listed this week as well as the matching alluminum passenger cars that were with this same set.
